Strong governance provides the foundation for a well-run, sustainable skating club or school. This workshop will explore approaches to building effective boards, clarifying roles and responsibilities, strengthening accountability, and aligning club activities with vision, mission and values. Participants will examine board structures, bylaws, policies and procedures, strategic planning, risk management, and communication. The session also focuses on running more effective meetings that prioritize strategic discussion and decision-making rather than routine updates. Participants will learn how good governance can improve organizational effectiveness, strengthen volunteer engagement, support growth and help clubs and schools maximize their impact while meeting Skate Canada requirements and standards.
